Next up: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Save the Date: S Hike & Discussion by Paulo Coelho is a philosophical novel about Santiago, a young Andalusian shepherd who leaves his flock to pursue his "Personal Legend"-his ultimate life purpose. Guided by omens and a recurring dream, he travels from Spain to Egypt, learning that the journey itself holds the true treasure.
The story begins in Spain with Santiago, a content but restless shepherd. He is plagued by a recurring dream in which a child tells him he will find hidden treasure at the base of the Egyptian Pyramids. Curious, he visits a gypsy woman who interprets the dream, and later meets a mysterious old man named Melchizedek, who claims to be the King of Salem. Melchizedek teaches Santiago about one's "Personal Legend"—one's true destiny or life mission—and urges him to chase his dreams
